I was going through next weeks tv guide when I came across this interesting sounding movie called "Zerophilia". Here's the description:
"A teen can change his gender at will in this coming-of-age romance with sci-fi undertones..."
It comes on thursday, oct. 8th at 10:30pm on Showtime and repeats on sunday, oct. 11th a 8pm on Showtime 2.

Nice film but without giving to much away there is a superbly filmed transformation in the shower... A pleasant film well worth watching

Hi Dee,
Yes Zerophilia is not a bad TG movie. I thought it didn't quite go far enough in terms of being explicit in content. It would be nice to see a movie like this being R-rated. Sigh.
Luke, a naive college student (Taylor Handley), struggles with issues of masculinity while he comes to terms with a rare genetic disorder that causes the afflicted to switch gender at will. Unable to control his body and emotions, Luke spirals into sheer panic when he discovers that as a zerophiliac, the lines between love, sex and gender are rapidly disappearing ...
I like the movie but to me it's not really a comedy. It's more of a drama. Overall, the characters in the movie fail to completely draw you in. It's as if they get you real close to them and then drop you. Also. I think that there should have had more sexual nudity in the movie. Based on the topic, I think they should have shown the changing of the genitals.

I have a lot I want to say about how important I think this is, but I'm going to supress the urge and digest this excellent news for now. I hope Mako hears of this sooner rather than later.

Spoiler Alert! Proceed at own risk. The best part about this movie is the sub-plot where another zerophilliac, played by the lovely Gina Bellman, schemes to get back her lifestyle as a gay man by trapping the main character as a female.

It's good, not great and there is not enough male to female transformation for me - but as a film it works quite well - it is an intelligent TG movie but not all that entertaining

I once came across "Zerophilia" in a DVD rental shop and took it out. That was the only copy that I have ever available seen for rental, so I had a lucky break.
I liked the film. It is better than most tg fantasy releases. But I wish they would have made it clearer whether one of the Zerophiliacs (sex changers) in the film had started out as a boy or a girl. The internal evidence is that he/she used to be a boy, since he (in his male guise) is involved in work that would appeal more to a teen-aged boy; as a girl "she" dozen't seem to do anything except attend school, as if she hasn't really had time to settle into a substantial life as yet.
By biggest regret is that they picked a dumpy-looking actress to play the main hero's female identity. Nothing she wears or however she fixes her hair, makes her look better than plain. Compared to her, the other two Zerophiliac girls in the story are real knockouts.

I know what you mean but the thing is - she actually does look like a female version of the male form, she is sort of cute in a girl next door kind of way but she is definitely no hottie - I was confused when one of the girl forms had much longer hair than the guy form yet the main character has almost identical hair - seemed inconsistent

I finally got around to watching it. Good movie and it touches on allot of points that usually go unsaid. it is now added to my collection and if I ever find it in a store I'll buy a legal copy. But for now I'll stick with my pirated copy.
I wish this was a real condition and I had it. but I guess I gotta work with what I have.

I'll only do it if I find it in a store. I don't like shopping on-line if I can avoid it. I know I'm being picky, but that's just the way I am.

I used to feel the same way. But with the overhead involved in running a "brick and mortar" store, this is the only way a retailer can sometimes afford to handle more obscure or low-volume items. It took me a while to reach a comfort level with on-line purchasing--but I'm still suspicious as hell of most websites!

If I get more comfortable with online shopping I'll defiantly buy it. But for now part of the experience is the human experience of going out and the instant gratification of it being in my hand now. I know that it would be faster online but some feelings just aren't logical and I get a little loose with my cash now, I don't need any encouragement to start shopping.

Indeed Tris has a big purchase to save up for - don't you? LOL I got my copy in a similar way - it took me a couple of tries to get a copy I could play but it is satisfactory, I do agree with you - I am a little nervous of online purchases but I am getting over that fear slowly.

Never having seen a TG movie before I didn't know what to expect, but I liked it a lot. It was very entertaining. I liked how the story was handled. I liked the little plot twist between the guy, his girlfriend, his "cousin", and her "brother". I didn't see it coming, but when it did I was like "Oh. Okay...".
One question though. How does the sex work between zerophilia's. In a zerophilia couple the "prime couple" when they get excited will switch sexes. So the prime couple never get to have sex with eachother as their prime selves but only as thier TG selves?
