In Pattaya, Thailand the largest TG beauty pageant was held over the weekend. Haruna Ai was the winner among 21 participants from all over the world.
I covered this in my blog on Tuesday and I dug up some more information that the news outlets missed, check it out if you want :)

Yea, that's a shame, eh? I would really love something like this here, of course I wasn't there nor did I watch it but it seems to have had an elegance and class about it.
I'm going to try to find footage :)

I've seen drag queen pageants on HBO and I think they were in Vegas

Yes, I saw a film about the one in Vegas, which is why I was surprised that you said there was nothing like this in the US, not sure if we have anything here in Good ol' Britain - maybe some of my fellow Brits could enlighten us?

Oh sure. The have drag queen contests. And if you catch the doc "Paris is burning" I think the name is there are several well known tranny balls are held annually. That's where Ru-Paul came out of and where Madonna found voguing. But it's all underground. You'd never see a contest like this sponsored by Donald Trump and shown on primetime.

The impression I got was that the contest I saw had transsexuals and transvestites in it - the whole transgendered spectrum - mostly TS - however I will agree that it seemed to be a bit underground- the sort of thng you can get away with in Vegas but not elsewhere for example and certainly not shown on one of the major networks .

The difference is Thai transsexuals in pageants look like women not drag queens.
In America most transsexuals beautiful enough to pass are
going to go stealth if they can.
