And it has parallels with MoV! Both stories take place aboard starships and both have TG! :)

Aardvark is funny you should say that. That's exactly what I was thinking about when I made the post.

yeah i rekon it was on a fiction site that went Belly up..It was a really long story and well written... But I'll be stuffed if i can think what it was called!! (or who wrote it) So many sites have gone since geocities went pear shaped!!!!!!!!!

Well I wish you luck Badkitty2, it sounds like fun, let us know if you remember anything else or if you find it . It is possible that it is elsewhere - a lot of writers will post to more than one site, Fictionmania and Sapphire's Place and Big Closet/Top Shelf being pretty sure bets for most of the stuff out there, possibly Crystals's Story Site and maybe even Nifty as well.
If you are very lucky the original author lurks here and will rescue us from the thrall of ignorance.

For TG + spaceships, my favourite is "Skeleton Crew" by Bek D Corbin. This clever SF story combines tragedy, romance, personal redemption, deadpan humour, and an intriguing thriller plot. Dr. Zheng is one of my favourite heroines.

There are some niggly editing errors in the posted copy. Particularly irritating is the presumably spell-checker induced mistake in Dr. Zheng's identification password. The quotation should of course read: "Heaven and earth are not ruthful. To them, the Ten Thousand Things are as straw dogs".

It should be "ruthful", but in the story some stupid spell-checker has changed it to "truthful". "Ruth" in this context means "pity" or "mercy", an archaic usage that is only preserved in modern English in the word "ruthless".

As you, noble Sun Wukong, surely recognise, Dr. Zheng's passphrase is the traditional translation of a famous quotation from the 道德经 or Daojejing (AKA Tao Te Ching). Some translations render it as something like "Heaven and earth are not benevolent; To them all things are straw dogs."

Hongyu's JerseyDress for Victoria 4.0
By Hongyu
Copyright 2007 Hongyu Studio
************************************************

What is NEW:
1; This time the JerseyDress has included an extract pack for DAZ/Studio users, you can download it with the main product zip, The extract
pack name is DSpatch&Temp.zip. if you use DAZ/Studio, you will need to install this DAZ patch after installing the main product.
There are also UV templates In the extract pack for making add on texture maps for JerseyDress.

2; I have designed a breast cleavage morph for V4 and made it into an Inj pose for easy use. When you apply it to V4, the jersey dress will
automatically conform to this morph, you don't need any extract adjustment. However, if you want to use it in DAZ/Studio, you will need to use
the Victoria 4 base instead of the V4 with body morphs. If you use V3 version of JerseyDress, you don't need to worry about the old inj pose wil
be covered and no more works, you can still use the new INJ morph to V3.

3; There are many adjustment morphs for both the dress and stocking, you can easily control the shape by those adjustment morphs.
If you want to use a pantie with the pantyhose, you may need to use the adj_Pantie morph for keeping the pantyhose completely wrap the pantie.

~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~

INSTRUCTION:

1, Extract the zip into your Poser folder, if you use DAZ/Studio you need to install the extract pack after installing the main product zip.
2, Load your V4,
3, Go to Figures -> Hongyu's JerseyDress, load the pantyhose first.
4, Load the JerseyDress secondly. (Important: If you load the JerseyDress first, you will see some pokethrough on the stocking in Poser5 and above version, then you have to delete it and reload the stocking, so load the stocking first is a fast way, you don't need to delete and reload the stocking.)
5, Go to Pose ->Daz's Victoria 4 -> Magnetize Clothing and magnetize the JerseyDress and Pantyhose
6, Go to Pose -> Hongyu's JerseyDress to use the morphs and MAT function of this clothing.

The puttering goes on, at a very slow pace, while I save up for needed models. I still don't have all I need for even the prologue yet, but I'm getting it little by little. I am playing with the parts I can, though.

Looking at my troops and comparing with the jackets in my closet, I've decided that while I had the color right, the shade was too dark. So I lightened-up the jackets and leggings (they are using the same color) and here is the updated look!

The thing to remember in WWII there was such a rush to equip the troops, that from manufacture to manufacture from Production run to Production run there was a slight shift in the dyeing process that why you have different shade of O.D. green. I know this because the things I have collected over the years show that.

I have a great book on WWII clothing, I see if I can find it and get you the name and you can see if you can find it used.

I am trying to do the same, thing being its addiction to buy the neat toys for DAZ. I got a bunch I plan to buy a few a month until spring.

This one took ALL day (long saves, render errors that locked up the program, constant re-poses--the usual :) ). I am still playing with outdoor lighting and deep shadow maps to get that diffuse, "in-the-forest" look. How does it look? Does it still look like daytime? Once I get a set-up that works, I can swiftly complete a significant part of the Prologue for MoV2.

It is close to the level of gloom that you get in deep leaf cover in the heart of the forest - maybe a little too dark - a smidgeon.

If this is a disembark for either a dawn or night patrol, would say you are in the ball park, the only thing I would do if you can it to black out the headlights. Remember in a combat zone they either spacial cover over the light so not so bright and give away there position at night.

Is this going to be a filler in between MOV, like to old movietone news ?

Just a historical note in the pacific theater most of the time they didn't wear there leggings I don't know why they just didnt.

It is supposed to be about mid-day, so I think I can lighten it up some (it's really bright with no shadows!)

The leggings tended to hold in the dampness, keeping the feet and shins wet and contributed to really nasty cases of "trench foot." But this is supposed to be Europe--Central Germany to be more precise--and I'll divulge no more about it's intended use! :)

C_Monster:

Think of it as a "flashback," WAAAAY back! ;)

I actually have one page done, page 3. Pages 1 & 2 are to be establishment shots that I'm struggling a bit with Carrara to get.

Osprey Men At Arms Series "The U.S. Army 1941-45" show a picture Page 38 and talks "That less that half these men are wear gaiters"

Good luck with Carrara. If you do half as much Carrara that you have done with DAZ, you are going to wow every one.

Got new toys! They were on sale and I'll need them for the Prologue! The officer outfit is for the Apollo Maximus figure, and the trooper outfit is for M3. I have them both on M4s. Took a bit of jiggering and setting parts on transparent, but they both look good and I can work with them!

I like the trooper uniform it look good on the M4 the officers Apollo Maximus look a little baggy. Not to knock you hard work. That is a very difficult thing to do with an unknow model to work with. One of the bonus points those is the the Jersey Dress thought a torture test and it came thought like a dream. I even use a M4 Pool side pose on the V4 and not a tear can I see. There are not meant to be funny, just to test how far can I go with the dress. I was thinking of Christine when you need more clothing for her, would she look good in leather ?. The Mat you can buy for the Jersey Dress work fairly well in DAZ.

When you load the Apollo Maximus uniform into DAZ, did it say WHAT NOW !!!

Here is a bolt armor screen test just for fun.

Oh, it loaded fine, but the tunic arms and cap were misplaced. I had to adjust them individually to the M4, and then they worked fine and stayed with the figure (with the occasional minor clothing adjustment to cover poke through, but this can largely be remedied by hiding the whole body except for hands, head and neck).

Yeah, I noticed the officer's uniform is baggy as well. But I think Apollo is a little bulkier than M4. I tried scaling the uniform down, but it didn't budge. I'll keep playing with it though and I'll only need one where I plan to use it so it may be just one of those things I 'll have to live with--or just get the Apollo figure (He's free!).

I know what Krauts are :) - Comes from Sauerkraut, it is a derogatory term, referring to their fondness for the delicacy. Not very sure what Sauerkraut is, I think it involves cabbage and vinegar

I just want to make clear that I use the term affectionately! My family originally hailed from Baden, the little town of Zell-Weierbach, 180+ years ago!

"Kraut" does indeed come from the pickled cabbage delicacy that was the main source for vitamin C for German sailors to ward off scurvey. The British, with their wider access to agricultural goods due to their empire, were able to acquire limes for the same purpose, hence the term....! :D
