Still those Policemen point and avoid any work no wonder we need the Continental Cops on the case... But are we to assume that there was a murder?

Assume everything, nothing, and all things inbetween. :)

I think it's safe to say, with all the police inside and outside the house, searching for clues, and interrogating witnesses, that something very VERY bad happened in that house. And it is the catalyse for everything that happens after it.

I wish Monique wasn't SO busy and we could turn this out faster, but she's got 4 webcomics of her own to keep up on, and commission work, etc, etc. So slow and steady will have to due.

Jeffrey is the spitting image of Devon Miles from Nut Rider, sorry Knight Rider ( blame Mad magazine ).
I think the constable has just noticed Fiona, can't wait to finally see her.
Thank goodness you spelt Tiffen with an "e".

Chalkerfan? Smythe looks a bit older then he should (to me at least) in that picture because Monique didn't add enough ink to his sideburns. So he appears a bit gray. But he's only supposed to be 35 years old. I made both him and Fiona born in the same year as Sherlock Holmes so that they'd be contemporaries.

Yes, if you look at the picture of Smythe you'll notice a top hat just over his soulder. That's her alright. And there should really be the sound track of "Jaws" playing in the backround from the looks of it. LOL!

I don't know what it is about the Fiona character, but from the "Making of" stuff everyone has been the most interested in her. We were asked to join a girl oriented webcomic site called "Girlamatic" because the editor read the "Making of" stuff and bacame enamored with Fiona.

I just hope she lives up to expectations. :)

Commotion22? Yeah, that's Maxwell Smart's number. And the Get Smart references don't end there. I tend to do that alot. Put little nuggets into my work that, if you catch them, will make you smile. I did it A LOT with my previous webcomic "G.A.A.K: Groovy Ass Alien Kreatures" which is a homage to 50's scifi and 80's Spielberg movies. But then with scifi I had a lot to work with. LOL!

Oh, and there's a tiny bit of TG in GAAK too. The aliens can transform into whatever they eat. And when they try to infiltrate the small town they transform into town's folk--And several of the aliens turn into women.

Hey, that's as close as I could get with it. LOL!

You can check out GAAK here if you like

There's a new update at The Continentals. Here's the teaser:

"THIS LADY IS NO GENTLEMAN!!!"

Don't let your eyes deceive you. This dude doesn't look like a lady. Beneath that top hat and tailored suit this "man" is all woman. And she'll break your heart or your face depending on her mood. And either way--You'll love her for it.

Thank you both. :)

Yeah, Fiona is well aware of her effect on the people around her who don't know what to make of a woman in the 19th century who dresses and acts like her.

Funny. When I first started to write this 2-3 years ago it was called "Smythe". It was supposed to be Sherlock Holmesy. Smythe was the main character and Fiona was originally envisoned as his sidekick. But when I started writing it Fiona just would not be denied and I couldn't call it "Smythe" anymore because it was clear they were partners. And it took a turn from being Holmesy to more 19th century Avengers-esque. But I didn't have a name for it. Lucky one day I was listening to one of my Prince albums and he has a song called "The Continental" who's opening music reminded me of a 60's tv spy show like The Avengers or The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Being a Dashiell Hammet fan, he wrote a series of short detective stories called "The Continental Op". So I made Smythe and Fiona "Continental Operatives" and called them "The Continentals".

Just a bit of trivia. :)

What did you think of the movie starring Steve Carrell? I hear there's going to be a sequel.

I don't know.... I thought the movie was funny and I like Steve Carrell. But it had little to do with the old "Get Smart" show. Carrell played the "lovable klutz" like he always does, but Don Adams' "Max" had more of an over-confident/barely-competant personality. And without the send-up of Cold War international intrigue, it losses much of its' edge and charm--there is no undertone of a real enemy that Kaos represents (i.e. the KGB). Like many of the best shows, they are a product of their time and place that can seldom be duplicated, rehashed, or remade--because times have changed. A good example of this change is comparing "WKRP In Cincinnati" about a late '70s rock and roll radio station (it was all about the music in the '70s) and "News Radio" in the '90s. By the 1990s, talk radio was becoming dominant and trying to do a show about a crazy music station would not have made sense. The same is true for "Get Smart," I'm afraid--the premise is no longer relevant, at least not the way Mel Brooks did it!

Not to derail this thread--so back to The Continentals! :)

Just how diabolical and dastardly was the murder and what horror awaits our eyes when we too get to see the scene of the crime.... And what antics will those pointing pokemen police officers get upto now some real crime fighters are at hand?

Maybe another visit behind the sofa is store...?

LOL! Yeah, because behind the sofa is where all the good clues and dust bunnies go to hide out.

I guess you can say it's gonna be a showdown between "if it walks like a criminal, and talks like a criminal..." and deductive reasoning. Lets just say old habits and crime solving die hard. No pun intended. :)

There's a new update at The Continentals. Here's the teaser:

'DOES THE CORPSE MATCH THE DRAPES?"

To Smythe, Fiona, and inspector Norfolk the only thing that seems out of place in Lord Ashton's study is his own blood soaked, battered body surrounded by newspaper clippings who's dates countdown to murder.

Fiona reminds me of someone but I can't quite figure out who it is.
That's going to quietly drive me nuts until I identify her.
Diana Rig? Jan Francis? Keira Knightly?
? :-(

Great Sage? Yup. She's all that and then some. LOL!

Keshara? They are definitely in out of their depth.

Chalkerfan? The inspiration for Fiona was Diana Rigg's Emma Peel. The physical model for her was Catherine Zeta-Jones. I even made Fiona come from Catherine's own hometown of Swansea, South Wales. And when you read her dialogue trying hearing Kate Winslets voice in your head, because I do when I write it.

But Kate Winslett isn't from Swansea - why would she not sound like a Swansea-ite? Well I suppose she might have gone to a posh school or something, assuming they allowed a mere girl go to Oxford or Cambridge back then - Hell they can't even Vote or own their own property after marriage.
Come to think of it - isn't Kate W from New Zealand?

Kate's british. She's from Reading, Berkshire. Her first movie was "Heavenly Creatures" directed by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson who's from New Zealand.

The voice you hear in your head could be anybody's voice. I was watching Kate in a movie and she has a mischievious quality to her and her voice that I can imagine as Fiona's. Being a native NYer I probably couldn't tell the difference between the accent of a Swansea-ite and brits from anywhere else.
